Spectrasonics Releases “Twisted Trees” for Omnisphere

Los Angeles, CA — March 7, 2023 — Today Spectrasonics released a new Sonic Extension from acclaimed sound designer Diego Stocco, which introduces an extraordinarily creative new sonic world built entirely from wood and elements of nature. Many years in the making, Twisted Trees™ has been curated specifically for dark cinematic production, with the organic heart of every sound adding a unique earthy color. From a whisper to a scream, Twisted Trees is a creative tour-de-force with thousands of unique sounds in nine different categories.

A New Sonic Extension
Like all Sonic Extensions, the core ingredients of Twisted Trees are deeply multisampled soundsources, a unique custom control interface with “scenes” and two exclusive new bespoke FX units. Each extension in the series is produced exclusively for the Omnisphere platform under the direction of Spectrasonics Founder Eric Persing, and fully supported by the Spectrasonics Team.

Organic Dreams and Nightmares from Diego Stocco
Diego’s reputation as one of the most inventive sound designers on the planet is well known throughout the film/trailer/media industry. From sampling a piano on fire to building unusual custom instruments like the Experibass, his work has graced thousands of productions - especially as one of the principal creative sound designers of Omnisphere since its inception. Now with Twisted Trees, Diego has created his very own Sonic Extension where his imagination was able to run wild!

The heart of Twisted Trees™ comes from over 400 new deep-sampled organic Soundsources built entirely using wood and elements of nature. Diego hand-built an arsenal of other-worldly custom instruments from the ground up - including the Animal Drum, the Revolving Trunk, the Ghost Ship and the Fire Beast, to name a few.

Powerful Custom Controls and Elements Mixer
Every patch in Twisted Trees™ has a set of Custom Controls that have been specifically created and dialed in for immediate sound manipulation, allowing for a wide range of powerful and musical results. The Elements Mixer makes it easy to automate a wide variety of changes in timbre and texture of any of the patches over time.

Scenes
An extremely useful feature of Sonic Extensions, “Scenes” store snapshots of the Custom Control and Element Mixer settings and give extraordinary new sonic variations per patch. Scenes can be user modified and they can also be selected via the left/right QWERTY arrow keys or via MIDI Learn/Automation for new ways of transforming a sound during playing.

Exclusive New Effects
Included with Twisted Trees™ are two brand new effects, Twisted Space and Twisted Root. These are brand new effects with custom DSP algorithms - which can also be used on any Omnisphere sound!

The extraordinary Twisted Space effect unit is a hybrid ambience processor with a completely unique sonic signature. Based on over 100 natural element recordings Diego Stocco made from animals, trees, streams, caves and forests – as well as rich DSP algorithms – this effect truly puts you out there “into the wild”. Try blending in a sub octave of the natural elements…there’s simply no other reverb like this on the planet!

Twisted Root is a special multi-band subsonic enhancer effect that adds massive girth, size and sheen to any sound you run through it. Each of the four bands has controls for the sustain and the level of each frequency independently. The Sub Octave, Hype and Drive controls add awesome intensity and power that is easy to adjust to taste. This is the one you want in your toolkit when you need to make it “larger than life”!
